CHALLENGE #1

Manual carton stacking and banding lowers productivity.

Automation is everywhere on the packaging line. But as anyone in operations knows, you’re only as fast as your slowest part of the line. Manual bundling (stacking and banding) is still prevalent on lines across the country, preventing packagers from realizing the full potential of their automation further upstream.

Key Questions:

Is manual product bundling (stacking and banding) forcing you to slow down your line?

How much productivity are you missing out on?

How would higher productivity help you more quickly realize the ROI of an investment in stacking and banding automation?

CHALLENGE #2

Manual carton stacking and banding increase labor costs.

For high throughput pharma and contract packagers, manual bundling often requires more than one employee on that part of the line. The overhead costs for a team of in-house employees to manually bundle your products likely outweighs the cost of an automated bundling solution. An automated solution leads to immediate savings in labor costs and long-term ROI realized through higher productivity.

Key Questions:

How much are you spending on labor to run your packaging line?

How many hours does the line run?

If you eliminate or reassign your bundling positions, how much could you save by cutting person hours over your run times?

CHALLENGE #3

Manual carton stacking and banding can hurt product quality and lead to damage.

Especially on high-throughput lines, the quick pace of manual bundling leads to packaging inconsistencies and damaged products. Both hurt customer satisfaction, not to mention the packager’s reputation and bottomline over time.

Key Questions:

Is manual product bundling leading to inconsistencies in quality?

Do your customers expect consistency and high-quality packages?

Would your customers value packages that were easy to handle and saved them time?

Maximize productivity and efficiency on your packaging line.

Let the Array Pack (AP-25) save you time and labor by automating carton stacking, indexing and banding so you can focus on hitting your productivity goals.

How it works, at a glance:

The AP-25 collects products from an up-stream operation such as a carton filler machine in its first stage position until a predetermined count is achieved. From there, products are either indexed into the banding position or shifted over for the next column or row of product to be stacked. Once the entire bundle is accumulated, it's indexed into the banding position by a high-speed stepper motor.

SOLUTION #1

Automated stacking and banding maximizes productivity.

The AP-25 integrates with your carton filling equipment to provide a seamless flow to packaging. It’s flexible enough to interchange quickly between various bundle configurations to minimize downtime. In short, it keeps up with your line so you can maximize throughput.

“We had a line that was operating somewhere between 60 and 70% throughput. And we've already taken that all the way up to about 80 to 85%. It's certainly increased our productivity.”

SOLUTION #2

Automation cuts labor costs dramatically over your run times.

The AP-25 is fully-automated to deliver maximum efficiency—cutting labor hours significantly over your run times. The AP-25 provides fully-automated carton stacking, indexing, and banding for vertical stacked cartons, horizontal stacked cartons, and combined configurations.

“Almost immediately, we were able to reassign positions and reduce staff on our line from four people down to two. In some instances, we've taken it from six people down to three, depending on the job that we're running. So, that's been huge for us.”

SOLUTION #3

Automation delivers the highest quality bundles at the lowest per-bundle cost.

The AP-25 eliminates the inconsistencies of manual bundling, leading to better bundles and higher customer satisfaction. High-performance stretch film combines integrity with ease-of-use and is completely recyclable. Reactive Tension Control redefines the standard for bundle integrity by automatically adjusting to varying product sizes and shapes while allowing the operator to finitely control the bundle tension.

“The bundles are more consistent and definitely improved aesthetically. They’re just nicer to look at and handle. Without the human element, the cartons are being orintented one way and one way only. When our customers get our packages, you know that it's a lot cleaner, they're a lot neater, more consistent. That might seem like a small detail, but it’s important to us because it’s really important to them.”
